Coming Soon—Wolverine: Madripoor Knights
Wolverine tales from the past in our future (with Black Widow and Captain America along for a ride into an Asian city built on the back of a dragon).
In July 1990, Wolverine teamed up with Captain America and Black Widow for the first time in a flashback to 1941. Steve Rogers meets a young Natasha Romanoff and a not so young Logan. There is the Hand, Nazis, Baron von Strucker, fight scenes, espionage and a getaway plane. What more could you ask for? Well, there is also a present day story (at least present day for 1990) in which Black Widow heads to Madripoor where there is more appearances by the Hand, a couple of Baron Strucker mutant kids and then a rescue by Wolverine, Psylocke and Jubilee.
All this takes place in Uncanny X-Men #268 written by legendary comic book writer Chris Claremont with art by Jim Lee. By any standards, a really good comic book. And now, Chris Claremont is back with a five part sequel with art by Edgar Salazar.
Wolverine: Madripoor Knights #1 is on sale February 7th and brings together Wolverine, Black Widow and Captain America. The three heroes are heading back to Madripoor. We’ve recently seen Wolverine and Cap in a team-up in Wolverine #38.
Back in Madripoor, Claremont and Salazar are picking up where Uncanny X-Men #268 left off. This time there is a weapon that threatens all life on Earth. With a whole host of enemies looking to take hold of the weapon, Wolverine, Black Widow and Captain America are going to have a fight on their hands. And yes, the Hand will be there. It will be interesting to see what has been happening with the Hand after Frank Castle’s recently role as leader of the Hand in the series written by Jason Aaron.
Claremont is promising that Wolverine: Madripoor Knights is going to reveal some secrets. Claremont said, “This trip back to Madripoor reveals hidden truths about two of my favorite characters on the adventure that shaped their lives.”
For Wolverine, Black Widow and Captain America’s adventures in Madripoor watch out for the five issue mini-series, Wolverine: Madripoor Knights #1. On sale February 7th.
